US tariff calculator FAQ

What this estimate covers

Does it include Section 301?

Yes, for China-origin goods when the selected HTS line explicitly references a supported Chapter 99 Section 301 heading. The result shows the heading, rate, amount and source.

Does it include Section 232?

Only for China-origin goods under a complete 10-digit HTS code beginning 7208. That source-backed beta uses 9903.82.02 at 50% of full customs value. Its source and arithmetic fixtures have passed internal validation; no external customs-professional approval is claimed.

Does it include every US tariff?

No. Other Section 232 products or origins, Section 122, AD/CVD, quotas, safeguards, excise, preferences and product-specific exclusions may require facts that this beta does not collect.

Where do the HTS rates come from?

The tariff schedule is a versioned USITC publication. Visit the data status page for the exact release, effective date and checksum.

When are MPF and HMF included?

Formal-entry MPF is added only when you select formal entry. HMF is added only for ocean transport when you confirm covered commercial-vessel cargo at a subject US port. Unknown fee facts produce a review-required estimate and are not silently charged.
